Privacy Policy

BranchdIn is an independent, student-run project. It is not officially affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by Florida State University, the University of Florida, or any other school whose name, mascot, or organization names may appear on it. Nothing here is an official university communication.

What we collect

• Your school email address, only to verify you actually attend or attended a specific school. We check that its domain matches a real university, we do not read your inbox or store your messages.
• Basic profile info you provide or that comes from LinkedIn if you sign in that way: your name, photo, graduation year, school, major, and where you work.
• Organization and club claims: which orgs you say you belong to, and whether another member vouched for that or it's marked self-reported.
• Coffee chat bookings: who you scheduled a chat with and when, so a real calendar invite can be created for both people.
• Messages you send through Connect, visible only to the specific person you're talking to in that conversation.

We do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or your actual .edu inbox contents.

Who can see your information

Access is scoped by real rules enforced at the database level, not just hidden in the app's screens:

• Your basic profile is visible to other verified members of your own school.
• It's also visible to members of the same club/org chapter at another school, only if that chapter has been explicitly linked to yours.
• Your email address is never shown to other members directly.
• A message you send is visible only to the one other person in that specific conversation, nobody else, not even other admins of your organization.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of external services to actually run the app, each only for its specific job:

• Supabase — hosts the database and handles sign-in.
• Google Calendar — creates the real calendar event and video link for a booked coffee chat.
• Resend — sends the email notifications (a pending request, a new message, etc).
• LinkedIn — only used to verify your identity if you choose that sign-in method; we only ever receive your name, email, and photo, nothing else from your LinkedIn profile.

We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your information as long as your account exists. You can ask to have your account and everything tied to it permanently deleted at any time by emailing the address below, deleting your account removes your profile, your majors, your org claims, your bookings, and your messages.
